Celebrate Pride at the Seaport District

Celebrate Pride at the Seaport District

We’ve been celebrating Pride all month long here in NYC, and the party’s just getting started.

As you’re probably aware by now, June 2019 is the month New York City has been celebrating WorldPride, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. Here in the Seaport District, we’ve been rolling out the rainbow flags and getting warmed up for the marquee Pride events taking place here and all over NYC at the end of the month. All ages, orientations, genders and beyond are always welcome in the District.

If you find yourself strolling the cobblestones this month, we hope you’ll join our efforts to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by ordering our special Pride cocktail, “The Proud Daisy,” available at Garden BarCobble & Co., 10 Corso Como and R17. The cocktail features Grey Goose and is the perfect refreshing summer drink, created with love and support for the LGBTQAI+ community.

We’re also celebrating Pride on the big screen with a Pride Edition of Seaport Cinema, our outdoor summer movie series that takes place on The Rooftop at Pier 17. But, which flick will it be? We took that one to the people, taking votes via Instagram. Stay tuned and swing by The Rooftop on Monday, June 24 to see the winner for yourself.

Later that week, you can start the Pride weekend celebrations early when our Seaport Sounds DJ session presented by Heineken kicks on Thursday, June 27. There’ll be new DJs spinning every day through Sunday, June 30.

As you explore the cobblestones this month, you’ll notice Pride love in force all over the District, from Big Gay Ice Cream to Fellow Barber, which is hosting an exhibition of work by emerging artists from the LGBT community around NYC.

After all that pre-gaming, it’s finally time for the main event on Saturday, June 29, when The Tea Dance takes over The Rooftop at Pier 17 for the world’s biggest rooftop Pride party. Join the celebrations from 2–10pm and take in the incredible views of the NYC skyline and Brooklyn Bridge as you dance to uplifting sounds from DJs Dan Slater and Phil Romano. Pop sensation Ava Max will also perform live—including her #1 hit single, “Sweet but Psycho”—and Eurovision winner Conchita WURST will also grace the stage. Proceeds from The Tea Dance tickets benefit LifeBeat, Stonewall Gives Back Initiative and the Trevor Project. Get your tickets now.
