At Home
Make It: Malibu Farm Honeydew Margarita with Patrón
Celebrate (responsibly, of course) from home with Malibu Farm’s signature Honeydew Margarita recipe. This refreshing and light cocktail puts a spin on the traditional margarita, and the hint of melon will instantly transport you to warm weather mode.
Malibu Farm manager Kirby Mosley offers these tips to aspiring margarita masters: “Always use fresh lime juice; it’s the key to any good margarita. And if you can, be sure to use a Boston or French shaker. Two-piece shakers allow you to separate the ingredients from the ice while mixing your drink, which prevents dilution.”
This recipe makes two delicious cocktails.
What You’ll Need:
Equipment
- Large Two-Piece Cocktail Shaker
- Jigger or Shot Glass
- Cocktail Stirrer
- Strainer
- 2 Margarita or Rocks Glasses
Ingredients
- 4 Cups Crushed Ice
- 3 oz. (two shots) Patrón Silver Tequila
- 4 oz. Honeydew Juice*
- 2 oz. Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 1 oz. Agave Syrup
- Thinly Sliced Melon Wedges
Use half of the crushed ice to fill both cocktail glasses, then set glasses aside. Separate the cocktail shaker and add the remaining crushed ice to the larger cup. In the smaller half of the shaker, combine Patrón, honeydew juice, lime juice, and agave syrup. Stir ingredients, then pour atop the ice in the larger shaker cup. Combine the shaker halves and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Once combined, strain contents over both glasses. Garnish with melon wedges and enjoy.
*Can’t find honeydew juice? Simply cube a ripe honeydew melon, and toss it in a blender with 2 cups of ice and 1 cup of water. You can then use the leftovers for a refreshing and healthy juice, or an addition to a smoothie.
