Neighbors: Fashion Designer Lauren Farrell

Where do Seaport locals and business owners like to go for happy hour, dinner and a spot of retail therapy? We check in with our neighbors to get the scoop on their downtown NYC go-tos.

This week: Fashion Designer Lauren Farrell.

Designer Lauren Farrell is the CEO and Creative Director of her own line of stylish, sporty handbags and accessories. Her latest collection of clutches, totes and cross-body bags is now available at her Seaport pop-up through the end of the month.

Do you have a favorite spot in the neighborhood that you like to visit for a moment of quiet?

Pier 17. Water is my absolute Zen. It’s nice to take a walk during lunch and look at the beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the river. There’s always a lot of activity, with the taxis and ferries so it’s fun for people-watching. As a designer, you never know when you will be inspired.

Best spot for happy hour with friends:

Definitely Garden Bar. Their drinks are always delicious and everyone who works there is wonderful. Kush is the coolest flair bartender around! Plus, there are always fun events and collaborations happening.

Favorite places to shop:

Christian Benner has some of the best band tees in the game. One of my go-to outfits is a band tee with a cool pair of jeans and shoes. He custom designs each tee by ripping or cutting and sometimes even burning them so they are all unique (and super soft, too.) And SJP. Sarah Jessica Parker is an icon. Her shoes are all stunning and very well-made. I need a bigger closet!

Favorite date or dinner spots:

I love Dorlan’s. I’m all for a bar or restaurant that is a little “divier.” Buffalo chicken anything is a staple in my diet, and they have sliders that hit the spot every time. Date-wise, a concert is always fun. So, a favorite date would be dinner at Dorlan’s, drinks at the Garden Bar and then a concert at Pier 17.

Best place for a glass of wine:

Fresh Salt has a cool vibe that I enjoy during happy hour, but 10 Corso Como Restaurant & Café is one of my favorite places to chill with friends over a bottle of wine in the evening. It doesn’t hurt that their Cacio e Pepe is the perfect complement to some wine!
