How The Rooftop Rocked in 2021

Electric buzz. Epic views. And the magic of live music. The Summer Concert Series returned to the Seaport and The Rooftop at Pier 17 in 2021 with a diverse mix of musical talent—and fans were treated to the beat, the funk, the rock, and everything we needed in between.

Across 30 dates and 20 sold-out shows, music-lovers and artists made a welcome return to The Rooftop at Pier 17 for that irreplaceable live event atmosphere. The setting on the edge of the East River—with panoramic views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan skyline—was the perfect place to celebrate live music together after an all-too-long hiatus in 2020.

In the words of Billboard magazine, reviewing the sold out Kesha concert, the crowd relished “the chance to get crazy at the open-air rooftop venue with a killer view of a city that’s finally opening back up after a tough quarantine.”

Kesha

In addition to Kesha’s raucous pop energy, this season’s one-of-a-kind live experiences included: Stars And Strings—a country-rock observance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 that featured Darius Rucker, Zac Brown, Chris Young, Lee Brice, and more; the hip-hop and pop-punk power of Machine Gun Kelly; the first performance in over 15 years by certified hip-hop legends The Fugees; two sell-out nights by Southern rock/alt-country superstars Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit; CeeLo Green’s signature blend of soul, hip-hop and R&B; and a lightning rod performance by rising rap star Don Toliver.
