Catch of the Day: The Seaport’s Best Seafood

The sun is still scorching and we’re craving cool breezes and light bites. From sushi and oysters to lobster rolls and whole fish, seafood is one of the quintessential tastes of summer. And, not surprisingly for a neighborhood that once housed New York’s famous Fulton Fish Market, the Seaport District is brimming with options to get your fix. Here are the Seaport’s top spots for seafood.

The Fulton
PIer 17, 89 South Street

With the Seaport’s history, there was no better place for Jean-Georges Vongerichten to open his first seafood restaurant than Pier 17. Lunch, dinner and brunch menus here are filled with the chef’s polished takes on seafood classics—including a Whole Black Sea Bass en Croute. Just dropping by for a drink? The beautiful raw bar on the second level is the perfect place to enjoy oysters, littleneck clams or a shrimp cocktail with a refreshing cocktail or glass of wine.

Lobster GoGo
190 Front Street

Drop by Lobster GoGo’s sleek, quick-service dining spot for your choice of North Atlantic lobster, sweet shrimp or lump crab rolls served in a toasted bun brushed with butter—or on top of a bed of organic field greens. There’s also a lobster bisque and two new additions to the sandwich menu—a lobster grilled cheese and lobster club sandwich.

R17
89 South Street, The Rooftop at Pier 17

This rooftop lounge pairs summer-fresh light bites and cocktails with cool breezes and jaw-dropping views of the Brooklyn Bridge. Satisfy your seafood cravings with plates of oysters, salmon crudo and PEI mussels from R17’s all-day menu. Each the more delicious when paired with a classic summer drink like a Pamplemousse Spritz, negroni or glass of chilled rosé.

Bar Wayō
89 South Street, Pier 17

The focus of this new spot from David Chang and Momofuku is seasonal cocktails, beer and wine—but the drinks are carefully complemented by a menu of snacks, lunch and dinner dishes. Seafood highlights include a shrimp cocktail, clam soup, grilled swordfish sandwich and chilled lobster roll. Pair your pick with a beer, glass of wine or sake, or a cocktail from a long list of fun options including the Zombie Elvis and Kaiju Crush.

10 Corso Como Restaurant & Café
200 Front Street

Fresh Mediterranean dishes with the soul of traditional Italian cooking is the name of the game at 10 Corso Como Restaurant & Café, part of Carla Sozzani’s pioneering “slow shopping” experience that also includes a luxury boutique and art gallery. While menus change seasonally, you can expect to encounter delicious seafood Italian-style, such as a Pasta alle Vongole, and mains like Branzino and grilled swordfish.
