Welcome USCGC Katherine Walker

Marine protection. Search and rescue. Together with the Seaport Museum, the Seaport is pleased to host USCGC Katherine Walker this Memorial Day Weekend. See where all the action happens with a tour of USCGC Katherine Walker. The Coast Guard ship—a fast response cutter—will be docked at Pier 17 on Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24, with public tours available between 9am-2pm.

Step onboard and meet the Coast Guard crew. Learn more about the patrol boat and its missions, including search and rescue and living marine resources enforcement. The cutter is named after Katherine Walker (November 25, 1848 – February 5, 1931), a German-American lighthouse keeper. Katherine Walker tended the Robbins Reef Light in New York Harbor for more than 30 years.  During her tenure, she rescued 50 or more sailors from shipwrecks.
