The Hands of Inspiration
by Kareem Fletcher
“Make art from nothing, until there is nothing but art.”
Now on display at 193 Front Street, The Hands of Inspiration offers an optimistic view for those of us seeking peace and connection in challenging times.
The multicolored face patterns visible in Kareem Fletcher’s latest artwork represent diversity, unity, and equality. Fletcher developed his practice of merging traditional art techniques with modern influences while earning his BFA from the University of Florida and the New World School of the Arts College.
For the past decade, Fletcher has provided art therapy to youth at risk in foster care and juvenile justice programs. His own work embodies historical and contemporary events. Of The Hands of Inspiration, Fletcher says: “Anything is possible when people work together in peace, love, harmony.”
The Hands of Inspiration is on display at 193 Front Street through April 30, 2021 in partnership with the South Street Seaport Museum and the Seaport District.
