Mini-Atelieristas
Ages: 1-4 + grownup
Through the use of a wide range of materials (clay, paint, light & shadow, natural materials, etc.) Downtown Atelier’s space allows for open-ended sensory exploration. Their goals are for children to build independence and make discoveries by freely exploring beautiful provocations. Downtown Atelier celebrates curiosity and imagination, nurturing the process of creation rather than focusing on the outcome.
They are a semester based program, but do offer trials! By holding semester long classes their goal is to build a consistent classroom community which allows the children to become familiar and comfortable with the faces and materials in their space. These classes are designed to support and ease children’s transitions to preschool by helping them develop essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills, easing their adjustment to a new environment, and fostering a sense of confidence and independence as they begin this important stage of their education.

About Downtown Atelier
Downtown Atelier is passionate Reggio-inspired creative educators who taught together at Blue School (a NYC independent school with a focus on creativity and the Arts that was founded by the members of the Blue Man group and their partners.) They are experts at curating beautiful, playful, and enticing materials provocations (invitations to play) for children to explore. We believe in the power of open-ended play to invite moments of connection, joy, and discovery.
